Formed in 1857, The American Institute of Architects (AlA) is a professional organization of 81,000 architects, emerging professionals and allied professionals with a common commitment to excellence in design and livability of our nation's buildings and communities.

Formed in 1951, the Idaho State Chapter currently represents over 300 licensed architects throughout the state, and is divided into four regional sections. All AlA members adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct that assures clients, the public and their colleagues that they are dedicated to uphold the highest standards ofprofessional practice.

The mission of the AIA Idaho Central Section is to provide a resource for its membership, as well as to sponsor programs and activities that will improve the public's awareness of the leadership that architects can provide within our communities. Not only can we help heighten awareness ofhow good design positively influences our experience of the built environment, but we can involve and educate the public about what makes for more livable communities, along with demonstrating how the built environment can be changed to make better use of energy and limited resources.
